Zippo lighters?!?!?!?!?

I am hoping to purchase a zippo lighter. My mother is unsure whether to get a lighter because of safety issues. How can I prove to my mom that zippo lighters are "safe" enough and I am responsible?

2. Well, it matters what you're going to use the lighter for. Zippo lighters are great because they look cool, they can be personalized, they're refillable, and pretty reliable. The only downside is that the flame usually tends to be a little big and not easily controlled, so if you're trying to control the flame carefully with crafts or whatnot they might not be as useful as a simple bic lighter. As for personal safety, they're no more dangerous than any other lighter, and perhaps safer than a store bought because your flint and wick are encased. Just show your mom that you're responsible and that there's no reason to fear. Good luck and happy lighting :)
