How old do you have to be to purchase lighters?

I really want to get a zippo lighter. I am 14, I dont smoke, but I like to do lighter tricks and burn stuff. How old do you have to be , and what stores can you buy zippo lighters at? In maryland.

1. 18 in South Carolina, not sure about where you are.
2. you can usually buy them at gas stations and maybe even dollar stores. i think they have a new rule now that you have to be the certain age/show id to buy one, which is stupid because they could be just for birthday candles. but try different places, they might let you buy one, i am not too sure on that. i remember i tried buying a lighter at the dollar store and they asked for ID! goodluck!
3. in most states, 18 (though in NJ, you have to be 19)
4. 18. And now you know why. So 14 year old kids that like to "burn stuff" don't get their hands on it.
